Measure Your Feet if there is not a regular size written in the shoe, or if you want to be sure
the shoe you are buying will actually fit you properly. Sometimes vintage shoe sizes will be a
little bit different than modern sizing, and sometimes the shoes will have no written measurement in them at all.
- To measure your foot:
First, trace your footprint on a piece of paper.
You should be barefoot, and place your weight on the larger foot.
Hold a pencil straight up and trace a tight line (close to the foot) around the foot.
Next, measure two perpendicular lines on the tracing that you just did. Like a cross.
One across the widest part of the foot, this is called ball width. Your ball width can be ¼ - ½ “ larger
than the shoe measurement, because your foot was pressed flat on the floor.
The other a straight (not diagonal) line from the toe to the heel. Your toe to heel measurement
may be shorter than the toe to heel measurement of the shoes themselves, especially on pointed toe styles.
